No citations issued in large NYE party in Granite Bay held amid COVID-19 surge – KCRA Sacramento

Despite a stay-at-home order, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office says there were an estimated 100 attendees at a Granite Bay New Year’s Eve party that prompted a noise complaint but resulted in no citations. The party, at a mansion in the 9100 block of Vista De Lago Court, which is in the gated community of Los Lagos, took place despite pleas from health officials to avoid holiday gatherings as the pandemic worsens in California and strains area hospitals. “Deputies spoke to the owner and we did not receive any more complaint calls after the first contact,” said Angela Musallam, sheriff’s office spokesperson. No citations were issued, Musallam said. Videos and photos circulating on social media show dozens of dressed-up attendees packed inside the former home of actor Eddie Murphy. Many of the party-goers are not wearing masks. Placer County is in the state’s Greater Sacramento region for hospital ICU capacity. On Saturday, the region’s stay-at-home order was extended as remaining ICU capacity dropped to 6.9%, below the 15% threshold needed to end the regional lockdown. This is a developing story.
